COME THE MILLENNIUM

Some days I just know better
than to get out of bed
anxiety approaches while I sleep
and I wake to find paranoia blooming
something like a tiny voice tells me
don't open the door
don't go out there
don't go to work
you might have to see someone
and they might try to talk to you
what can you say
when you feel like running away
not running towards anything
just running away
I don't want to join the circus
I just want to hide
in the woods eating roots and berries
while the civilized burn their beds
I have had enough
of their popular culture
apocalypse culture
I will come back
after the tribulations
after the rightious have been raptured away
the day after Armageddon
when all is quiet again
