The Book of Revelations

disciplined disciples and seekers of the sun god
knocking at the door to implore me to allow them
the opportunity of being first to offer
salvation at a very special price
eager at the invitation to entrance
unaware of inverted intentions
toward the contest for conversion
they begin the discussion with
the death of the sun god, John
for the three-hundred-sixteenth time
dagger tongues taking aim at my heartstrings
staking righteous claims to a rock of faith
and for a moment I listen before
speaking in curious words which shake
the foundations upon which said rock rests
speaking softly but strongly and sending them out with doubts
questions to conquer commitments to blindly follow men of god
with eyes open to obscure passages
it takes greater will to remain in the dark after
the sun god has been revealed
